What is a Birth Doula?

  • A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to a person before, during, and after childbirth.
  • Doulas are not medical professionals and don't perform medical tasks, but they help with comfort measures, pain management techniques, and emotional reassurance.
  • Their role is to advocate for the birthing person's preferences and ensure they feel supported throughout the birth experience.

Indigenous Lactation Counselor

A Lactation Counselor provides support in breastfeeding through emotional encouragement, education, and techniques.

As an Indigenous Lactation Counselor, I treat breastmilk as medicine and the first sacred food. I make the connection between indigenous ancestral foods/herbs and lactation, and offer nutrition education. I also provide emotional support with breastfeeding and dealing with historical trauma

Childbirth Education

I am trained to provide mindful and evidenced based education and training for families that are expecting to help prepare for labor, birth, and postpartum.

We will discuss, nutrition, exercise, different positions of baby, medical terms, practices, and how you can begin to prepare for your birth.

This is a 4-hour class which can be offered in person or online for your convenience.

It is encouraged that you bring your community (those who will be with you and baby most throughout this journey) to learn with you!
